Catching up

Well after over a month of neglecting the website in favor of the email correspondences related to the season championship, I thought it appropriate to get everyone caught up on all the league news.

First of all the league championship which was held on November 16. A big congratulations goes to Greg B for taking the Championship in the sixth season of the Okanagan Poker League. Greg defeated Pat H heads up for the title, with Paul S and Grant S taking third and fourth place. Congratulations to all players.

But we weren’t don’t with 2012 yet. On December 7th, we held our first ever charity tournament where 50% of the buy-ins from the rebuy and add-on tournament was donated to both the Kelowna and West Kelowna Community Food Banks. I’m proud to say that the 14 members who played that charity event raised $615 dollars for the food bank. Thanks to everyone who participated.

And that rounds out a very successful sixth season. We averaged 20 people per event, and I am hoping to add a few new players to the roster for 2013. We will also introduce one change to the points structure, in that only the top eight of the nine regular season events will be counted towards final points. This allows everyone to miss one event without being penalized in the points race.

Any new players that have been watching the website, now is the time to jump in at the beginning of the new season. Email info@okanaganpoker.ca for more information.

Finally, both Patrick and I wish all of our players a wonderful Christmas season, and we will see you in the New Year!
