Revision of our confirmation system for League Events

Our growing numbers have forced us to revise our current system of reserving seats for league games. We are trying to make it fair for everyone while giving regular players a little extra chance to ensure they don’t get locked out. The revisions:

  • We are suspending adding new players to the league contact list. All players that are currently on the list will stay, whether they have played or not.
  • Seats are reserved on a modified first-come, first-serve basis, based on your replies either via email or text message in the following manner:
    • Players who have already accrued points in the current season will be given a seat number when they reserve (up to seat #30).
    • Players who have not accrued points in the current season will receive a letter only. These players will be given a seat Thursday, in the order they were received (up to seat #30). This allows ample time for members who have already played this season to reserve a seat.
  • You can go to our standings page here to see your confirmed seat number or letter.
  • Cancellation of a confirmed spot after noon on Thursday, or failure to show up after a confirmation may result in:
    • mandatory payment of the $7 league pool contribution, OR
    • mandatory payment of the full buy-in ($33+7 total) ONLY IF all seats were reserved as of noon the day of the event (thus leaving some players not able to play). The $33 will be added to the prize pool of the following league event, or to the Championship table if the infraction happens on the last regular event of the season. This payment would be required before being allowed to play any further tournaments. A second late cancellation or no-show would require automatic prepayment of buy-ins via cash or credit card ($1 surcharge would apply) before having a seat reserved for you. This will be required for all future tournaments at the discretion of the tournament directors. We reserve the right to exclude anyone from future tournament invitations at our discretion.
  • Invitations will go out by email and SMS at the same time, around noon on Mondays.

Friday, May 9th. Arrive by 7:15pm to check in and pay, cards fly at 7:30pm.

  • $33 buy-in + $7 league pool* = $40
  • T5000 tournament. 20 minute blinds.
  • No Rebuys or Add-ons.
  • Attendance will be capped at 30, so get your responses in to secure your seat.
  • If you do not confirm your attendance and arrive after 7:10pm, you will NOT be seated for the tourney.

Well, Event #4 has come and gone….

… and I forgot to update the website. Oops.

Congrats to Dwayne J for a strong night, besting me heads up in two hands. Also congrats to Ted, Nick, and Grant for their finishes, making the money.

May’s tournament is again ONE WEEK EARLY on May 9th in order to get away from the May Long Weekend. See you there!

Event #2 Results

Twenty one people came out for our second event of the season.

James H took his second 5th of the season, Darren VR finished 4th, Adam G finished 3rd place.

Dennis W took a massive chip lead into heads up against myself, but I wasn’t able to pull off a massive comeback. After two hands, Dennis W finished me off to take first place. Congrats Dennis!

Kelowna Community Food Bank Poker Tournament

This is a time of year that is extremely depleting on the resources of the Kelowna Community Food Bank and the need to mitigate this is urgent! So here is something new and fun, the first annual…

In efforts to hold an event that is different and do a little FUNdraising we have come up with a 100 person Texas Hold’em Poker night. This is a night for all levels of players…it is a FUNdraiser!! The night will be played on professional tables, each having their own dealer. You can reserve your table of 10 or be placed with other players.

We are excited to have KANE’S HARLEY DAVIDSON supporting our event and you never know what they might come up with to bring to the event!

Your thirst will be quenched by Big Surf and Urban Distilleries.

We will have some fantastic prizes, In addition to the MONEY!!

So please gather your boys and girls and come out for a fun night with your peers and support a great cause.

Event #1 Results

Great turnout for the first event of the season, with 23 players attending.

James H made the money in fifth place, Grant S took 4th, Chris A took third. Khanh and I had a two-hand heads up session, leaving me with all the chips. Khanh takes second, I was lucky enough to finish first in this event.

A few new players were great additions to the league. We are hoping to see them back again in future events.

Next event will be February 21st. See you there!
